The field at the back of Millers Lane is not Foggs fold. This photo is certainly Foggs Fold. The large building in the foreground is the barn to the field which is on the extreme left. The houses are in the background, I cannot remember the names of the people who lived in the houses, but the farmer for most of the time I lived there was mr.Ogden. This was between the top of Millers Lane and the top of Victoria Road. It was taken with the photographers back to the railway Line.
Yes this looks like Foggs Fold. I was born in Collinge st, off Victoria Road. I'm not sure who still lived in Foggs Fold in 1964, I married in 1960 and before that I knew of a family called Sherrington, Sutch, and Causey who lived in the houses there.
If my memory serves me right we use to go to(Fox Fold)Foggs fold along Victorie road, i knew John Sutch from over there he went Moss lane School, played for Holy Family under 16s and went on to work at Parks Forge in Ince

Hi Ste, Yes I do remember your family, but they are a few years younger than me. You may remeber my brother, John Ashcroft.
Hi Tom,
Can you tell me the names of the parents of Fred Burrows, because he could be a relative of mine. My grandmother was a burrows and always lived in Platt Bridge. I knew your cousins Kathleen, John, Jean and your other cousin Jean from the flower shop. I knew the Sherrington's well, but lost touch with Frances, the daughter.

I went to school with an Ian Burrows, although they lived in Tram Street at the time. It was a large family, but Ian is the only one I can remember.
I to used to get to Fogg's Fold by going up Victoria Road, and just past where Millers Lane joins Victoria Road was a unsurfaced read to the right... if you followed it you eventually came to terraced houses of Fogg's Fold.
However, I mentioned Millers Lane... in 1925 at least, Millers Lane was known as Foggs Lane, and it did not bend to the left to meet up Victoria Road... it instead went straight on and eventually came onto Fogg's Fold. It was not a surfaced road, just a wide dirt path.
my great uncle peter derbyshire lived at foggs fold, & my grandparents ( hannah & edward alder lived on a farm near the canal, i think it was called bent fold farm.
Dave yeh Bents Fold Farm it was Gino Marseli lived there with wife Florrie after being a POW during the last war at Bamfurlong Hall Farm just over the canal bridge. Tom Walton (my dad) sold Gino the land quite cheap to give him a break and years later Gino sold it for the housing development making a fortune no doubt. Last I heard he had gone back to Italy.
Hya Lizzie, where was bents farm, my mam Margaret Alder lived there with parents Edward & Hannah Alder from 1932-38,Edward died in 1938, so Hannah & my mam moved back to 15 Millers Lane
Hey Dave if you walked straight down Navigation Street not always called that in those days past where the houses stopped Bents Fold farm was a little way down close to the canal bridge with the railway going over the top which was at the back of the farm. It was a pig farm in Ginos day & had some mean old sows too. Nice to hear that your family lived there Hope you can figure it out through the maze of houses now standing there.
Thank you Lizzie, i will have a mooch up there, i was born in Hart st, which became Woodcock Drive & remember visits to my grandmas at no 15 millers lane even tho she died when i was 4 !
Did your grandfather actually work the farm? if so there is a good possibility that he would have known my grand dad Sam Walton who moved to Bamfurlong Hall Farm in 1934 from Standish.
Hi Lizzie, yes he worked on the farm as well as working at the pit
I used to deliver newspapers up Victoria rd round Foggs fold & back down Millers ln 1963-1967. I was mates with Pete Burrows & his cousin Malc Burrows
My Dad funnily enough asked if I could find a picture of Foggs Fold, it was lovely to tell him that there is one on here! He is Ken Walls from 10 Victoria Road, my dad says that this area he remembers to be just lovely.
Fred burrows is my grandad, sadly no longer with us . Looking forward to showing my dad "Bob" this picture . Thank you
