According to the "Measuringworth" Inflation calculator that's today's equivalent of £64 using the retail price index.

16/2d. I can remember when the LMS used to advertise their fares at, "approximately 1 penny per mile" in the 1930s.So your 16/2d is 194 pennies, how is that for the mileage from Wigan to Euston. E.T.
