I thought I'd posted all photos from my parent's pub but came across this one recently which was taken in the Wellfield Hotel's Vault. I apologise for the poor quality. It shows a gentleman in the left foreground whose name I remember as "Jock" and I understand he was a retired policeman. The rest of the vault customers are busy playing dominoes (5 & 3's). Some of the ones I think I can pick out are Norman Price, Harry Bithell, - Gallagher?, Edmund Joynt, Danny Molineux. Tommy Burns? a fourth domino table is out of shot to the right.

It reminds me of The Long-Neck in Ince. And I bet there was little or no bad language amongst the domino players.

Quite right Irene. In those days obscene language was known as ‘pit talk’ and rarely used in public places, other than when the demon drink took over.

I can confirm Irene and Aubrey that you are absolutely correct. A tribute I think to the standards that our customers upheld.
