Is that Mr Griffiths at the back with glasses?
Is that "Jock" Shaw maths teacher in back row? The chap in front isn't Jack Gilliett is it?
Definately not Ernie Griffiths.
Jock Shaw at the rear and Jack Guilliet in the trilby
Sorry Billy Anglesey is kneeling to the immediate left of the boy receiving the award.
Jock shaw is on the back row and that is jack gilliet on the presentation.
Shaw had no connection with fishermen or the industry he just liked collecting money.
"Jock" Shaw maths teacher was a rum un we could always get going off on a side track about the war. Jack Gilliett was a strict discilpine man even though he was short in stature many times had me stood on the balls of my feet by grabbing the sideburns. God that hurt. Ernie Griffiths was a terror as well. Pity the Deanery doesn't have the same standards now. Any photos of Roy Jackson (Taffy) and Tommy Gore? I remember Roy taking me with a couple of others lads in his football team to watch Bolton Wanderers play Sheffield Wednesday at Burnden Park in the early sixties. Wouldn't be able to do that on his own these days! What about Mr Cutter??? his classes were always a shambles that is untill Derek Hurst came in (I think he had the classroom next door) We soon quietned down then. I can still feel the split cane he used on my bottom. Liked Derek and also Ken Richardson (art) ? Banks science and biology was ok too. It was a great school then.
Remember all those names Alan, Taffy was a true gentleman along with Derek Hurst.
Ken Richardson was the Maths teacher when I was there, 1966 - !971.
Tommy Gore, Technical Drawing.
Newton Banks, what a swine he was.
Metalwork teacher, Warren.
Woodwork, Foster.
Music, Cutter.
Parr, PE.
Jack Gilliert, wow try this one, pull your bottom lip both ways and repeat "Go and wait outside my room boy", wack alert.Ernie Griffiths wacked all the woodwork sec.cos shirts Sherrington locked Mr Walsh in the store room, Nobody grassed. Ouch!
I was at All Saint's 1961 - 1965 The sight of Jack Gilyatt gives me the creeps to this day. He once caned all my class for bugger all!
