After looking at these photo's both my wife and I were attempting to find her uncle , which his name was WILFRED CLARKE, BORN IN HINDLEY GREEN,LEIGH ROAD 247 , JOINED UP WITH THE LANCASHIRE FUSILERS ,BECAME ONE OF THE SALFORD PALS.IN 1915

IN THE 1914-1918 WAR, BECAUSE OF HIS STATURE AND BEING A MINER HIS JOB WAS TUNNELING WHICH IV'E FOUND OUT THAT TASK BEFELL A LOT OF LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE MINERS.

HE TRAVELLED ALL OVER FRANCE BUT WAS UNFORTUNATELY KILLED IN FRANCE ON .THE 13TH OF OCTOBER 1918
ACCORING TO A LEIGH PAPER WENT THRO THE WAR WITHOUT A SCRATCH INTIL A MONTH BEFORE 11/11/18 .
