History of Wigan   (Help with ancient and recent history.)

Started by: david dunlop (133)

Can anyone advise where I can find a replacement 1929 map of Wigan? The one my Mum had has grown legs and wandered off. She got it from a cousin in the early 1970's and it was folded into a size about 6 x 10 inches, with a white, red and blue cover. It was based on the Ordnance Survey map of the day with all the detailed buildings, bogs and abandoned pits shown. From what I recall, it covered from just North East of the old Crow Orchard Colliery, to just South West of Poolstock. Big open fields just West of the end and to the south of Pagefield Street. We are in Winnipeg, Canada now, so a shop address or website would be a great help.

Cheers,

David
