History of Wigan   (Help with ancient and recent history.)

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone has any stories/memories of the long disappeared corncrake in Wigan. I was fortunate to talk to a fellow today who remembered seeing this elusive bird in Garswood up until the late 60s!

So that got me wondering if anyone else on the forum would have any more info
