Yes Scargill cocked up not calling for a ballot but even if he had called a ballot i reckon he would have comfortably got the o.k. to call a strike but the miners would not have been united, there would have still been scabs, espescially in Notts. They wouldn't have come out no matter what the vote. P.S. I was never a Thatcherite but still think pewapp's original post is bang out of order.
