I learned to drive in 1976 and had about 12 lessons, but it was only £3 a lesson from a bloke who came from Valley Road at Pemberton

Going back to those times in the mid to late 1970s there was a driving instructor, who had a reputation for womanising with his pupils

I think he could have been the Bleakly School of Motoring, and he was a typical posing 1970s poser, tight trousers with flares, ben sherman shirt with the collars and lapels worn outside of a jacket, poncy hair, with a centre parting, and a poncy moustache, he was only missing a gold medallion around his neck, and I hated him.

One night me and me mates were driving around Haigh Hall messing about, when we came across his car parked up, and it was there with all the driving school stuff on it, along with steamed up windows, so we said "he'll be ******** of his pupils" which we were pretty disgusted about, so I reversed to the side of him and knocked on his window, he opened the window opened, and said "YES" to which I said "ast geet reet time on thi" he replied "are you some sort of idiot" to which I replied "yes" at that a female voice from inside the car piped up and said "eff off *******" she said me surname, so we effed off, but I never found out who the female was.
