There are two reasons why the top prospects will abandon rugby league, money and the international stage.

I fear for the forthcoming ‘Four Nations’ at what crowds it will draw especially the double header at Wembley on bonfire day – what a cock up!

Rugby League will survive because it is by far the better spectator sport, but in what guise?

But the RFU, with millions behind them, will after the debacle down under be drawing up an action plan for the next World Cup in 2015 which is being held here in England
That plan will no doubt involve the recruitment of any outstanding rugby league talent

Difficult times lie ahead for the ‘greatest sport’ – does Rugby League have the strong leadership in place to take it through the storm?
