Des Johnston's point in his defence before the meeting last night,
"Instead, he said Barrow were the victims of the RFL refusing to give the club a level playing field and that expenses paid to players for travelling and accommodation should have been subject to special dispensations.
“We have been after them (the RFL) for five years about the fairness of the competition, regarding a level playing field, when Gateshead, London Skolars, Harlequins, Scorpions, Celtic Crusaders, all get allowances and dispensations,” said Johnston.
“Yet we are further away than anybody. We get told Harlequins is in London, but that is two hours by train from Leeds and Barrow is more than three hours from Leeds because of the infrastructure.
“Not too long ago, we lost very narrowly to Celtic Crusaders and they had a team with illegal immigrants, all being paid thousands of pounds – how are we supposed to compete with that?”
He has got a point, don't you think!
