I was at that match, rio. I think it was the floodlit final against St Helens around 1968. Both Ashurst and Hogan were sent off for fighting. I'm almost sure that Hogan (who was playing for Saints that night) was signed by Wigan soon after and served his suspension as a Wigan player! Bill Ashurst was one of the finest forwards ever to grace the Central Park pitch. I remember him kicking a goal from the half way line before he signed for Wigan. He was playing for Rose Bridge in the Ken Gee cup final. Rest in Peace, Sash.
