A 2013 Open LANKYKATS Message..
With particular regards to Lankykats £1 door charge for everybody inc' musicians.. and what it's used for!

Volunteer musicians have the convenience and use of all the sound equipment, drums and back-line amps being provided without the need to lug about their own stuff, set-up, play, breakdown and get home at 2:00pm in the morning. In addition, the stage is set for you by Lankykats together with a professional sound engineer who will endeavor to meet all your individual musical needs. The sound equipment has to be paid for and maintained. We have spent £5000+ so far with more newer top quality equipment in the offing. After the show, Lankykats volunteers take down and store the equipment ready for next time. All electrically powered equipment is PAT tested and full Lankykats Public Liability Insurance up to £2.000,000 is included.

It is largely understood that Lankykats is a new and unique concept to many people as it was to me only three years ago. We now have superb facilities at The Standish Unity Club with it's location in the heart of Central Lancashire and close to Motorway's M6 and M61. The M55 and M65 at Preston are just 20 minutes away.

When bands volunteer to play at Lankykats you have a showcase to promote your band, a rock 'n roll leisure and hobby facility for guys and gals who no longer want 'proper' gigs and want a easy way of having a simple 'knock', a means of charity fund raising, a place where you can see and/or play live music on a regular basis and also meet other bands/muso's and make new friends and it costs just a £1 - and you can choose to play or not - as the case suits! And we can boast to having the most, friendly, discerning and appreciative audience you ever wish to meet. There are well over 100 people now regular attending Thursdays Lankykats nights with musical tastes of all varieties of the rock 'n roll kind from all ages, styles and genre's.

There is a small Charity Group of Lankykats who meet regularly to make decisions regarding fund raising events for mainly local charities and worthy causes and they sell raffle tickets to raise further funding. We take Lankykats shows on the road too.. including the annual pilgrimage the The World Famous Cavern Club, Liverpool.

So, if your band has somewhere to play and can get paid for doing it then fab... Good luck to you all. Lankykats doesn't and can't pretend to suit everybody and I hope that reading this will understand what Lankykats is all about.. and please remember - no-one gets paid a penny at Lankykats!
A happy New Year 2013 and beat wishes to you all.

Bill
