You'll be right, mygriffiths, Jennie will have remarried. 44 Corporation Street was the address in the cemetery records for Charles Jones. So it looks like this Charles Jones is a red herring. But it does seem strange that the name Charles Jones was in the parish registers if it wasn't true. The vicars and parish priests knew their parishioners in those days and used to come regularly to their homes. I'm looking into other possibilities for Charles Jones.

Winnie, thanks for looking again. I didn't think George was living with Edna, but I thought there might have been a link to Charles through him. I know George White Jones was married to an Elizabeth Cartwright. Can you find them in 1939 so that he can be ruled out completely? Thanks.
