Hi all,
If there is any truth in Charles Jones being the father of Eric, I may have made an interesting discovery. Winnie says that there was a George W. Jones living at the same address as Edna in 1939, born abt. 1902. There was no George W. Jones born in Wigan that year, but there was a George White Jones born in 1900 and the 1911 census shows that he had an older brother called CHARLES JONES (mother's maiden name was Graham). I looked at Eric's birth certificate and it doesn't look like Edna was married to Charles, but he is listed in the parish register of St Catharine's. I am off out now and don't have time to investigate this further, but it might be another lead.
