just wondering if anyone else had the same mental arithmatic lessons that i had from the nuns at the school next door.
we all had to stand up beside our own desk in a line, we had to outstetch our arms and sister vincent would walk down the line and randomly ask multiplication questions,,example whats 6 X 5 ? then allow 3 seconds to answer, if you gave the wrong answer or could't answer, the cane came down apon your hand,,this system was supposed to quicken our mental arithmatic, at the time i was 5/6 years old..it did't work with me, and might have had an adverse affect, because when i was asked a sum, i was under pressure and gave up and just waited for the sting of the cane hitting my hand,,
