Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

According to "The place names of Lancashire" its been known by a couple of names:

Banforthlang (in 1448)Banforthland (in 1538) Banforlonge (Hall) (in 1553) Bamferlonge (in 1584) Apparently, the name is derived from old english names for peas or beans.
