Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

Started by: Tommy Two Stroke (15342)

A girl got into a taxi once, (true story this) it was in the early 1990s or it may have been the late 1980s

She was a scouse girl, and I am saying girl, that is being kind, she would have been in her 30s and she was from Liverpool,

This was in Wigan, and she said to the Wigan taxi driver, who was a Wiganer

In her best scouse accent she said "yeahh can yoo take us Downhall Green"

She was speaking in the plural, but she was on her own

The driver said in his best Wigan accent

"Awreet Love"

And she is sat in the back, and probably a bit drunk, and so the driver drives from Wigan, through Goose Green and past Landgate and then he drove up Soughers Lane, and at the top of Soughers Lane the driver turned to the woman/girl and said

"weer too luv"

The girl woke up and said

"This isn't Hall Green" as in Upholland
