Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

I will make the effort to answer your question !!!. I seem to remember that shortly after VE Day, a party was held on the field that was next to the Golden Ball Pub that stood on Wigan Road opposite the junction with Soughers Lane, I think that this was organised by the local residents, my Grandparents lived in the row of houses below the pub, at No 524. We had games and races and a wonderful time. Tables were put out on the grass and a spread was laid, I don't remember what we ate, but it was sufficient for the times that we were living in. Rather interestingly, recently, when we celebrated the VE Day anniversary, one of my neighbours who have young children, decided to decorate the front of their house with flags and bunting, and I remembered that I still have a large Union Flag that my parents hung outside our house in Booths Brow Road 75 years ago, so I offered it to my neighbours, they were delighted, especially, given the history. Hope that all my friend on WW are keeping well, I will bring you up to date with my news shortly.
