Had a wonderful day today. I had the pleasure to be invited to the opening of the new education and learning centre at the Battle of Britain Memorial site at Capel le Ferne on the cliftop above Folkestone in Kent. The ceremony was performed by HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. As a Trustee of the Memorial, I had the honour to be introduced to them both, together with HRH Prince Michael of Kent, who is our Patron. Unfortunately, the weather could not have been worse, with heavy rain, high winds and mist, a planned flypast by a Spitfire and Hurricane, together with a Typhoon had to be cancelled. You can't win them all.
