Sad to report the death of an old friend and next door neighbour. John Sutton from Spindle Hillock sadly passed away at his family home in Robbinsville, North Carolina, where they had moved to in 2001.
John had cancer and knew that it was a question of time before the inevitable happened. 6 years as it turned out.
John and his wife, Alma had planned what was to be done after John's death and yesterday, Saturday I attended a "Celebration of John's life" at Birtle, Bury which was one of the things they had planned.
It was a moving few hours.
They had emigrated to America in 1978 and made a very good life for themselves in California and Florida.
It was good to meet up with Alma and her family and friends and also David Sutton, a nephew of John who I new from many years ago in Spindle Hillock.
Rest in peace John.
