I had a X TYPE Jaguar 2.1 auto, now I drive a 1.6 Nissan Note Tenka auto, if I was stopped at lights or knew I'd be waiting a while ,I'd put it in park ,otherwise I'd leave it in drive and apply the foot brake because they creep forward.
Never use neutral because you need the handbrake on.
Now if you park on a hill you should always use park and the handbrake , because if you just use park it will roll a bit ,which tends to make drive selection when you come to move off difficult ,because the gearbox as moved slightly .
When you use park ,you have to go through reverse to select drive ,so the reversing lights come , Ive had one or two behind blast on the horn
