There are several Spaceports planned to be built in the UK, and construction has started at one which will be a test facility for the Spaceport which is to be built in Sutherland, LINK which is at the top of Scotland, 35 miles away from the old Dounreay Nuclear Power Station LINK

Those rocket pads in Scotland will be good for launching satellites into Polar Orbits, and another Spaceport is Spaceport Cornwall LINK

Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic is going to be launching satellites from Spaceport Cornwall this summer LINK

The associated industries and spinoffs from Spaceports can generate a lot of wealth for a country, Britain already builds a significant number of satellites, and soon Britain will not only be building them, but launching them and controlling them, and it makes you wonder where the Mission Control facilities will be located, it won't be in Cornwall or the North of Scotland, I suppose they could be in London, but maybe Manchester or Liverpool will be in the running, because I can see rockets being built in the new technology corridor, which is being built by Peel Holdings and the Government along the River Mersey in between Warrington And Liverpool, so rockets could be being built in Warrington, and floated on pontoons from Liverpool to Spaceports around the country.

So I would imagine if such a scenario panned out, the control facilities for UK Spacecraft might be located nearby in Manchester, 'Mission Control Manchester'

It sounds far-fetched that doesn't it, but these things are going on in this country, and now we don't have any stupid EU regulations standing in the way of such projects, so would it not be better for the media to be reporting on positive news like the UK Space program, rather than bitching on about Boris having a drink and piece of cake
