Well, it's complicated. It comes from the National Grid network owned by C.E,G,T., I think, and that carries a blend of many producers who 'feed' power into the network, Drax Power might be the biggest, then EDF (French) and some Chinese and lots of other 'small' generators (including houses with solar panels on the roof!).
All these companies that people pay their bill to are purely traders who just buy wholesale power and sell it to customers, at a profit, although one or two of them do produce.
The fact that France supplies a lot of power to our grid is a main concern re: Brexit.
