Can anyone tell me why when he walked out of Salford Royal only wearing a blanket, suffering from serious injuries, the police were not called to take him into protective custody, where he could have been sectioned under the mental health act ?

Maybe the police were busy sorting other out at the time.
I remember patient walking out of Wigan infirmary a few years ago and jumping into the river Dougie but he drowned.
