I seem to remember working on the council with my Dad as a summer job, digging trenches, and doing about 80 hours a week to earn about 3 quid. That would have been 1970 though (aged 16) so my memories of wage levels don't tie in with other posts! I do remember a pint of bitter being 1s 11d though (10p) ! Amazingly I work in an office with 2 other managers (NHS) and our combined wages are nearly £100,000 a year!!! No wonder the NHS (aka Breat Britain) is broke!
