I don't know why George Orwell gets brought up when talking about Wigan. If you check your facts, he only bad mouthed Wigan and never had a good word to say about it.

I am a Wiganner and a Lancashire lass and I'm not interested in what petty local Governments do to keep themselves occupied. Just leave Lancashire alone I says.
