At the time of the wartime coalition government the Labour and Tory parties accounted for close to 95% of the vote.
Nowadays we have nationalist parties in Scotland , Wales and Northern Ireland. Plus the Liberals.
I doubt that anybody could form a workable coalition from such a collection.
The problem with UK politics is that it is full of lightweights and non entities in all parties. Cut the MP numbers in half, double the remuneration ,scrap devolution and get back to serious politics.
