Magpies are bullies. I saw one see off a sparrow hawk in our garden that was feasting on a pigeon that it caught. I have seen 2 bullying a cat that was cowering in my pats [i suppose the magpies had a nest nearby]. We have sparrows nest in a neighbour's rambling honeysuckle and watched a magie dive bomb from the roof to get at the nest. I suppose all birds have an order in life but magpies are not my favourite. Last week we came around the corner and there was a magpie lying in the road and being savagely attacked by another magpie. nature is cruel
