One thing I don't get about the building of The Grand Arcade is before it was build and up millgate is the council tax office. Well at the right hand side of that was a hill that was quite a steep drop (I used to run down it as a kid) and it brought you onto station road.

Well the steepness of that hill has now disappeared. You just go down a slight slope to where that mine area is and the other enterance is that brings you out where HMV is.

There is evidence on how steep it was as when you walk towards the main entrance the escalators would be roughly how steep it was. Maybe I'm overthinking but how come it's not as steep a drop like it used to be on that side?
