If Priti Patel was a Labour Home Secretary the left , including the BBC and Guardian would be calling the situation racist and misogynistic. The Home Office civil servants would be seen as a white male elite with privileged access to the top jobs in the civil service.
As a Tory Priti Patel is seen as a traitor by the left. They believe that she and all others from similar backgrounds should automatically be aligned to the Labour cause.
