Yes I can see what you mean Mick, and especially in winter with all the mud, but around there it is probably the wettest part of the Wigan Borough, and he has a choice of jumping in the canal, or any of the flashes, I wouldn't bother with the River Duggy though, and if it was me I would go and have a dunk in Scotmans Flash, because when I had me dog, which was an Alsatian which thought he was a human, and he could swim like a fish, the canal looks like it is full of crap, and most of the flashes are stagnant and are full of life and organisms, probably mosquitos, but Scotmans seems to have very clean water, and it is fed by two brooks, none of which are Sniffy Brook, but I think Scotmans Flash has a throughput of water, because me dog was always clean and not smelly after he had been swimming in Scotmans flash
