There was two Tom Collins's in St.Helens. They were both in Eccleston, one on Boundary Road / Knowsley Road junction and the other a bit further up in a side street on the right. And he also had a workshop a bit further. Old buildings the last two were and I think they've gone now. The first one was a showroom.

There was another, called Fred Hartley's, not far from Tom Collins's. And there was Dingsdales, in Duke Street which, ironically, is where Geoff Duke came from. Not Dingsdales, Duke street!

I reckon Tom Collins's had the same old wooden drawers and shelves when it shut as when you got your Goldie bearings from him. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he still had some!
