I live a mile and a half from Wigan, Whupsy lives in Liverpool, this is how the price as increased since 1986 for a single journey to Wigan.

1986 - 25p

1989 - 35p

1996 - 55p

1997 - 65p

2003 - £1.50

2005 - £2.00

2010 - £3.50

2016 - £3.00

I have not caught a bus since 2016 and when Stagecoach took over the service, they put the fare down to £3.00 and I have not a cloo what the fare is now, but from that you can see why folk are not catching buses anymore, they are using taxis instead.
