Macarbe History

Started by: Rachael16 (1)

I'm hoping to find someone who could either tell me or point me in the right direction of a few snippets of slightly dark history I've heard surrounding Garswood. One being that the Blue Bell Pub, rectory road, its cellar used to be used as a morgue during the war. And that a few of the other pub's cellars have tunnels which actually connect to nearby churches. I'm trying to dig up my own research but I'm finding it hard to get much detail. Thanks in advance!!

It's true regarding pubs being used as mortuaries, back in the old days. I think the 'tunnels' story is just that. A story!
