Hello Momac, personal experience like that does make it very special.
Opera's never really grabbed me - from what I've seen on TV - though last weekend I was captivated by a performance of The Flower Duet on The Voice UK.
I suspect some might consider me a Philistine, but as Heritage Opera's The Barber of Seville is an English translation I think I'd be more likely to appreciate it. It looks to be quite humourous & fun.

Believe it or not Jo Anne,it was sung in English..and modernised..motor bikes on the stage etc, I'd sooner have it in it's original language, but loved it just the same.

That sounds brilliant, Momac - if it's a good translation, the opera being sung in English would only add to the production for me.

Went to see Carmen last night in Manchester. It was my first Opera visit and whilst I will not rule out going again it was not really my thing. Horses for courses I suppose. The wife loved it though. She is the cultured one!

I love this from Puccini's opera 'Gianni Schicchi'....
Mio Babbino Caro - Maria Callas
The translation is quite moving - I think
