I have a book The Early Record of the Bankes family at Winstanley. I got it 2nd hand from Amazon after someone showed an old 18th century map of Winstanley [was it you?] Anyway it lists the Winstanleys living and working there 17th century. If it wasn't you I am having to lend it if you are looking for ancestors

GB, I hope Kath will see your post and you will be able to borrow her copy.

If you want your own copy, there are two second hand books on eBay called "Early Record of the Bankes family at Winstanley" £22.82, with free delivery, which is a bit steep I think.

There is a copy on Amazon for £14.01 + £2.80 postage , or

Abe books have a copy for £10.50 with £3.50 postage.

i don't remember big bommys and we lived at Billinge road near the bowling green. i think we just had a little do in the back yard. I remember mun always telling the tale of the year she sent a rocket through the window of the Post Office in Enfield street and she never owned up!

GB- parcel arrived safe and sound. ive been trying to find a map I had which showed the spread of Winstanleys over the last century. I'm sure I saved it somewhere. Maybe I originally found it on here?

Hello Kath,
I thought i read in the book i may be wrong that with me making enquiries about the coachroad near where i live ,anyway i thought there was reference to the "Winstanley Estate"" spreadingas far as this "coachroad " then to my shock from the end suddenly belonged to" Hindley Hall"for me thats a huge area from the original hall at Hindley.

Anyway i;m glad it has arrived safely again THANK-YOU.
