I am fortunate to have a downstairs loo as well as a bathroom upstairs so problems there.

Apparently the double loo is getting more popular. Instead of reading the paper you can chat with whoever is sitting next to you.

Wasn't that how the Romans did but more than two together? Wasn't that where the phrase....." Getting hold of the wrong end of the stick" came from?

I-spy I recall as a child visiting my grandmother in Bamfurlong and when we played out 'in the backs' among a lot of waste ground was a very old out house that also had a double lavatory - the old ones with a slab of wood with two holes in it and a place for cinders beneath it. I never knew who it belonged to. I suspect it was from the old mines around there. But we kids were fascinated with it.
