Christmas shopping, are we getting enough help?

Just thought you might want to air your opinions on helpful or unhelpful sales people. As an ex salesperson I know how trying some customers can be....... Is the customer always right......
I would be interested in your views......

No, the customer is not always right - you just let them believe they are.

I worked in retail from leaving school, in many fields and roles - I wouldn't do it now for all the tea in China - although not because of the customers - 99.9% of whom are fantastic BTW.

totally agree with vgrower, i also have worked and am still working in retail for over 30 yrs. i do enjoy most of it, and most folk are good, but then some grow horns and can be very rude. I also hate to be served by bad mannered shop assistant, i serve folk as i wish to be served. with good manners

Not surprised at your comments, I am of the same thinking.....
We were in a dept store today, and asked a passing assistant where a certain product was...... She was not busy, she said
" over there"
And pointed in the direction.
It took us a while to find the product as "over there" was a huge section.
What was wrong with taking us over and showing us properly.....
It is just the finer points of beeing helpful......
Just that bit of extra effort......

we had a totally different experiance last week, in Wigan in Wilkinsons, wanted something in particular, had a quick look round, could not see it, so asked a young woman who was filling some shelves of stock at the time, on here hand and knees, i must add, she said ok i'll show you, and took up right to it, and it was near to the other side of the shop. thats good customer service for you, she got my medal for the day

Yes that is what I'm talking about!!!
The salesperson we encountered was a senior woman..... You would have thought she would have had the wherewithall to get it right!!!!

The customer is ALWAYS right , if you do not hold that attitude you and your Company will go out of business . Its that simple

I agree Aussie94 you have to show that outwardly as a courtesy to the customer but inwardly and to yourself it is a different story....
My Dad coached me on this....... Always smile and let them think they are in front...... Your own private thoughts are your own.....
