Coming And Going

Started by: dostaf (inactive)

It has always been said that Leigh is a lovely place to come from, but enough about that.

If I was to talk/type about visiting Leigh (I don't live there), I'd say/type 'going to' rather than 'coming to'.

The only way I could 'come to' anywhere would be if I was already there.

Or could I?

Is it a figure of speech?

ie When addressing a Leyther, could I say/type 'The next time I come to Leigh, I'll pick a nice day'?

If you are i Leigh at the time, then yes. If you are in Wigan, then it's go to.

'Some people' have been visiting a certain public house every evening this weekend, 'Allegedly'.

Good point.

If it goes altogether - you can add it to your missing thread thread.

Apparently, there was a previous missing thread thread, before mine. Stoo/Sir Bob/Apls mentioned it (on my missing thread thread), but then deleted his post.

It's called Phallostethus.

Well today I don't know whether I'm coming or going, my house is like a railway station folk coming, folk going, just waiting for the last one, then I shall retire to my Spa Room. Come to think of it would I be going to my spa room or if I'm already here would i just go up the stairs

Replied: 30th Aug 2012 at 15:56

Stop with the boasting already and look on the gardening thread, I still can't access it. While you're at it. Mail Brian and ask him to make your recipe thread a sticky.

[EDIT] Panic over, the page opens now.
