Most Jehovah's Witnesses will claim to have been watching tv at that time!

Well, I'm not interested in what Jehovas Witnesses have to say either, but I see no need to be rude, they're usually very nice people and should be treated with respect.

Don't remember whether it was Jehovas or Mormons at the time..when I opened the door they just mentioned the word 'Family'..I said "Well my Daughter and Son-in-law are here..two grandchildren, a cat,a dog and the dog has had six puppies..no disrespect but I think I know all about family don't you" they gave a little smile and said bye.

I've had them knock on Christmas Day several times. At first I told them that this was my Day and that I wouldn't be preached to blah, blah. Now, I engage with them because, as dougie and trish said, they are very nice people. I do tell them though, that I have my own views and that I respect theirs - however I will accept their leaflets.

Pretend that I am an even greater fundamentalist religious bigot than what they are:

Any excuse- make them get up and praise the Lord.

Shout Hallelujah with sufficient frequency to stifle any communication from them.

Slap them heartily across the back (shoulders) addressing them as brother - they quickly sit down - so I can get them up again to praise the Lord again.

They don't stay very long!

Hi veg grower. Last night I was looking around the various pages of Wigan World and arrived at a place called “HANDBAGS” and found some of the comments quite interesting!

Regarding the Jehovah’s Witnesses, I studied their teachings for THREE YEARS only to find that almost everything they teach is SCRIPTURALLY WRONG!!! To fully realise this you would have to take a good look into Gods Word (THE BIBLE)!

For example: If you were to go to the fruit market, you would find that all the nice stuff would be displayed right on the ‘front’ of the counter (in order to tempt you) - and unless you were to check things out first, you may find that when you get home you have NOT been given THE RIGHT STUFF … and that its only fit for the bin!!!

Note: There are TWO TYPES of JWs. The first are those who ‘sincerely’ believe what they believe but they are “SINCERELY WRONG! … Secondly: There are those (and I know them) who “know” they are Scripturally WRONG - but they continue in their error simply because they like to be with their own little group and in their own little comfort zone.

I have “had” (past tense) so many so-called friends who are JWs and I can name most of them, but when I challenged them over scriptural issues; they very quickly became very hostile and unfriendly, simply because they could not defend what they believe!!! Hope I haven’t bored anyone. .

PS … In a previous post I think I may have offended someone but that was never meant to happen. Likewise, I hope that this post doesn’t offend anyone either!!! If you want to know more, you know where I am. GOD BLESS. johnboy

Hi Johnboy, yes I know what you mean. I don't have a problem with any religion at all and I am happy to listen to all as I think on the whole, they are all a force for good.

The only ones I have knocking on my door though are Jehovah's Witnesses.

I can't get my head around the fact that they don't agree with blood transfusions - this I find hard to understand.

Ah well, I was raised Church of England, and although I no longer go to Church (haven't been since my Dad died 11 years ago) I still think of myself as a Christian.

Hi townofmemories. It is very clear, obvious and apparent (from your comments) that you have probably never even opened a Bible, let alone READ IT and we can neither ‘condemn’ nor ‘condone’ something that we know nothing about!

I don’t like arguments and I don’t like conflicts, I just try to help people out whenever I can and that was the only reason for my earlier post which you 'seemingly' disagree with. Sorry if I have offended you in any way. God Bless. johnboy.

Hi billy and hindleyite ... We shall have to wait and see won't we!!!

If I'm wrong (as a believer) and die tonight, I have lost NOTHING!

If you are wrong (as a non-believer) and die tonight, you have lost EVERYTHING!!!

Thank you for your comments! This is my 'final' comment on this thread.

Thanks and God Bless. johnboy.

Well said Trish. when they come to my door, I listen then tell them politely I'm satisfied with my present Faith but I accept their literature in good spirit and read it.
There is nothing wrong in knowing about other Faiths.
It's all the paper trash for Pizzas, etc that I put straight into the bin.

I spent 15 year at Catholic school being indroctinated with all this God crap,
Diference is I also read science books from an early age and came to my own conclusion witout being brainwashed by religious dogma.
Conclusion,religion is a farce.

Never understood why most followers of the Abrahamic God dismiss atheists so readily, after all they themselves dismiss countless other gods as false.
They are not too far away from being atheist themselves.

I don't do religion ... but having said that, I think that singling out John Joseph is very rude... I don't share JJs beliefs but even so... well anyway I just thought it was rude to John Joseph and maybe I'm wrong, but I cant recall JJ being rude to anyone for the sake of it.

Has anyone ever thought that all religions, Muslim, JWs,Jews,Christians, are worshipping the same God? Think about it. Started by Jews with Abraham, the Muslims were an off shoot by Ishmael. Then came Jesus. In any war situation, all sides pray for victory to the same God. I reckon that if he really exists then he must be puzzled by all his so called adherents

Invented by a bunch of bronze age middle eastern peasants,to try and explain a world they didn't understand.
Adopted by the tribal leaders to keep control by fear of "eternal damnation",then by Rome to do the same.
Christians will claim the moral high gound by saying the 10 commandments are the basis of modern law, when in fact only 2 of them have any basis in law today, and they have nothing to do with Christianity as they are basic rules in most, if not all societies.

Fredna, you're wrong I'm afraid.

Christianity came from Judaism and Islam came roughly 600 years after Christianity.

Muslim is not a religion.
