virgin media
Decided after being with virgin (from when it was telewest com.)to change to sky has for what I want it is about £20 a month cheaper. Was sent my bill for feb which includes broadband+phone rental for march £27-40.Tried to phone them but got throu to india/pakistan speaking to someone who could barely speak english give up in the end.Managed to find a e-mail address and sent a e-mail to explain I had payed in ADVANCE for B/B+phone and would be leaving them on the25th feb.Reply must pay total bill and any refund would be paid back after 45DAYS.I stopped the direct debit sent them a cheque for bill less £27-40told them if there was any amount owed send me a bill 45DAYS after receiving my cheque.Waiting to see what happens next.

I've been debating whether to switch from Virgin to SKY. I am paying quite a bit, but have all Sports channels and all Channels apart from films. When I ring to try and negotiate a new package, all I get is 'you have the best deal for your package' bla de bla. No complaints with the broadband though....

To add - just had a letter through the door from Virgin Media saying 'unfortunately we will have to increase your bill by £3.50'. Time to ring SKY I think.

virgin gave me a £10 discount a month ,but it was only because i had not used their tv service for two years ,would not refund my excess payments ,when the contract is up next september they out of the window.

When I phoned virgin to cancel was offered my bundle for £1 cheaper than sky. When I asked why was I not offered this 3-4yrs ago at a saving to me of at least £240 a year?
Was told we have millions of customers and they cannot contact everyone with deals even if you have been a customer since the days of telewest communications. You have to ask yourself by how much can virgin and other broadband companies drop their prices and still make a profit

Received final amended bill yesterday to be payed by 19th march only for one weeks rental probably from date in month I origionaly took out my contract to date I finished with virgin media. After playing virgin at their own game its surprising what they can do,no advanced payement and refund in 45 days just a bill for what I owe them

I agree but the broadband keeps me with Virgin , such a good service but at a price

Never had any problems with virgin but got too expenive for what I wanted plus raising their prices again. There are cheaper broadband services than virgin plus special offers.Sometimes even in the middle of a contract it pays to look at other providers and add up the savings if any by paying off your provider and changing to a new provider. In my case been with virgin for years but got FREE broadband with Sky for 6months so in 1st year savings of £300 minimum against my virgin package including the free broadband and calls.

sue - do you have TV services too or just phone/broadband?
Replied: 19th Mar 2012 at 07:23
VM for broadband is the best especially if you like to upload and download files and music.
I always had VM broadband/Phone and Sky for TV.
Since moving I can only have BT or Sky for everything and it's nowhere near as good. But ADSL Broadband cant do the same speeds and so on... But nothing I can do about it

Had no landline for 2 weeks + keeploosing internet explorer, they have promised twice to send an engineer,Due today, if he doesn't come it's off to Sky,

They left me without landline for nearly 3mnth all over the Christmas period. That was after 4 engineers and a promise to send out ground crew for a blockage, which they said was due to the gasboard laying a pipie over my cable.... it all ended with yet another engineer coming out and fixing the box inside the house.... so 5 engineers and 3mnth later they fixed the landline in less than 15mins.... I dropped them like a hot potato as was sick to death of one problem after another with either one service or another not working.... and yet the bills kept coming right on time....they are a complete waste od space.

I haven't come to a decision yet, I'm looking at several options. I rang Virgin a few weeks ago and told them I wasn't happy but they hardly batted an eyelid. In the last couple of days they have rang me twice to discuss my account. Well, I have asked them to ring back - at a time when it is convenient to me! It will give me time to get my facts and figures together for when they ring back on Monday.
