I dont I stop to stretch my legs and a fag break for missus. If I need any thing I come off the motorway and go to the nearest town or supermarket get what I want then get back on too the motorway

In the 1980's, of course, somewhat less motorway then, I had a wonderful little book called:
'Just off the Motorway'
It listed, for every motorway junction, all the facilities within two miles: eating, pubs, fuel, recreation, shopping and stuff worth seeing etc.
It was good having this stuff in book form, I planned my motorway journeys taking in interesting places and eateries etc. Never used motorway services again!
I don't think a book like this could now compete with electronic media.

I once saw a book called Just off the Motorway. It covered a similar topic.

the strensham services have a mcdonalds near the m50 /m5 interchange thats the only services in the uk that i use, other than truck stops.france is even worse ,paid £10 for a small pizza in 1997,the last time other than using the "loos" i ever bought food in france.germany does,nt have services other than using the ausgang sign .where unsurprisingly there are a large number of mcdonalds very close by.
