Did you know that the original mince pies (going back a few hundred years) where actually a traditional baked pie with meat, but with bits of fruit added? We now omit the meat and also the construction of the pie crust!

Pro: They’re very good for Christmas jokes.
Who hides in a bakery at Christmas?
A mince spy (Metro)
Santa: Doctor, I’ve got a mince pie stuck up my bottom.
Doctor: Don’t worry, I’ve got some cream for that.

Glad I am not the only person who dislikes mince pies!
When I was at school, I remember teacher telling me they originally were a special treat for the oldies who had lost their teeth. So meat was minced to accommodate their inability to chew.
Sounded like a good idea. Very inclusive.
Now, they are a pie with a sticky sugary filling. Just to hasten the process of losing your teeth.

so glad to find others fink they're horrible too. The cardboard boxes they come in are tastier. To get rid i stuck some on the bird table once.
Birds wouldn't touch em.

I love mince pies. Question - what do you hate most mince pies or brussel sprouts?
