having a pint
Went out last night for a pint,1st time since lockdown, Found it very clinical but safety 1st. On entering the club there are hand sanitizers every were. Social distance lines for the bar.To get served there are cut outs in the screen which covers all of the bar and if possible pay by card,Name and address taken, Before sitting down table and chairs sprayed and wiped down, empty glasses placed on a table near the bar On leaving use a different door to exit, Only down side to all of this is the beer has gone up 15 pence even though the government warned the industry not to raise beer prices

PeterP thanks for posting this first hand report of having a pint. Your description confirms what I suspect from some of the TV stories, and, yes, it sounds clinical, like going for a blood test. The complete opposite of relaxation, but maybe the new normal. Was this a Wigan pub? Was it busy? Were any people masked up?

Reasons to be cheerful, not sure, more like the end of the world as we know it.

Wigan central in queen Street is very good with the protocols. Good beer and atmosphere.
