Exotic Railway Journeys

All the current crop of TV programmes, (Impossible Railways et al) are really stirring up the sense of 'wanderlust' for me.

Reminds me of a song we sang at school, which had the words, "It's the Far Cuillins that are puttin love on me" (The Road to the Isles)

Any suggestions for adventure travel for Septuagenarians with precarious health status?

Is it better to settle for 'God's waiting room', or to go out with a bang at Everest Base Camp or similar?

priscus.....wait and see how roylew finds his big adventure later this year. If I remember rightly he is doing some kind of Cambodia hike. I think it is he.

That looks relatively safe. Guess I could even get health insurance for a Ghan trip!

Mind you, I would want to go walkabout: well, maybe just a little! (Used to love doing long distance walks when younger)

The Ghan would be ok combined with something else. A little too far simply for a few days. There is also the South African Blue Train.

Yes ...I am doing Vietnam and Cambodia in March..Starting in Hanoi then all cities down to Ho Chi Minh City...then Phnom Penh and Siem Reap...All by train and boats...then a plane home....25 days in all
