Set in my ways

Started by: priscus (inactive)

Decided, as it is Christmas, would have Full English Brecky. (Well, eggs, bacon, mush and toms.)

Usually don't cook a F.E. But is frequently my choice when staying in a hotel and suchlike.

I just found myself missing my usual toast and coffee.

So much so, I put a reminder on calendar/computer to remind me in lead up to Christmas 2019, not to make the same mistake again.

So, I was really looking forward to toast and coffee on boxing day.

Had checked in advance that my local Tesco would have fresh bread Boxing Day morning.

To add insult to injury, there was none!

Usually have to get their fresh bread before 9-00am, or sold out.

Today, they only opened at 8-00am, and when I got there before nine: NO BREAD!

Manager showed me latest comms he had on this. It indicated bread would be delivered by 19-41. So, just in time for when the store closes then!

ps I am quite OK about baking my own bread, but this is not summut I can do at short notice, since it takes about four hours, plus maybe another hour or so to allow for the loaf to cool!

And bread just baked is not best for toasting!

Priscus, a small tin loaf, run it under the cold tap, just to dampen it., rub it in a clean tea towel, into the oven (not with the towel), about 160 about five minutes, tap it to make sure the crust is done, let it cool, best butter, done. Who needs Tesco.

Me and Mrs RMJ have a Boxing day tradition of frying up the left over mashed potato, Brussels sprouts and carrots and turnips to make bubble and squeak.
Together with 2 rashers of bacon and 2 sausages, makes a cracking start to Boxing Day.

Ray,
I don’t think you can. I tend to remove the second one and add something pertinent to the original. Something like. Forgot to mention we wish it down with a mug of Yorkshire tea.

Certainly do Tonker. Probably at an inflated price.
