Not seen one of these for ages plenty in the 50's and 60's....yet today there it was today up in the Sky..???????

My son and friends had them in the 70s. If you happen to have a fishing rod (preferably a boat rod) and reel using that equipment is a great way to fly them, the control is unbelievable.

I used to make arrows out of cane...split it at the top and cut pg tip tea boxes into flights...carve out a notch in the cane about 3 inch from flights...put a knot in a piece of string..wrap the knot around the notch..wrap string around your finger holding arrow neat the bottom...throw it and keep hold of string...used to go really far....made 2 for grand kids..they couldn't believe how far it went....

roylew yes we made throwing arrows like that usually for tree branches plenty available in borsdane wood. throwing them we had a stick with the string attached to that.
