Traditional bake
The hot cross bun has appeared in the supermarkets, traditionally eaten on Good Friday, it's early start is quite common now.
There's a lot of different recipes, the one I've alway known has the cross baked into the top but most in the USA have an icing cross put on top, it goes with the sweet tooth overload USA .
I just remove the soft icing, cut the bun in half and put butter on the halves, just right with a cup of tea

Been in UK supermarkets since Christmas stocks were cleared from shelves.
They are NEVER 'hot' though! Should that be permitted: Trade Description Act, and all that?

Been on sale here for weeks. I get the ones with extra raisins and always eat them toasted.

They have to market them early, just in case any of us give them up for Lent!
