Grand Arcade
I was looking at P-A-D today and it prompted me to do a search for dates when the Grand Arcade area was started into construction and when it open. I do remember a few years back seeing construction pictures, I was out of the country before they started.
I have visited the place when I've been on holiday in the uk but can't remember much about it.
Anyone known were the construction pics are on WW or were they just put on the General section and now lost.?

it's all relative beep 54. It's grander in relation to the old Station road that it replaced. I like it.

It always seems to attract plenty of people when I've been in...what is going to happen to the galleries..I always thought the galleries was too big and complicated...should have had more green spaces...very poor layout

It is good the Grand Arcade but I loved that street Station Road with Woolies and the cinema. We used to queue up down Station Road on Sunday night for the cinema and there was a café on the right hand side where we used to go. We have seen some great acts at the Ritz.

I remember going to the Grand Arcade in I think, 2009 and I remember asking 'Is this it ?'.. I really was expecting it to be bigger.. thinking of the area demolished surely amounted to more than the 'Grand Arcade... I was quite disappointed to be honest...

It was built by Shepherd Construction who are now part of the same group of companies I work for.
It was because of this tie-in that I got involved with the scheme to redevelop the Market Hall and the Marketgate Arcade.
